Directions to Lisdonagh House & Estate

From Dublin Airport

Exit the Airport taking signs for Dublin City/M50. Get into lane for M50 and follow the signs up the ramp and right to merge onto the M50 southbound around Dublin City. At junction 7, take the N4/M4 exit to Sligo/Westport/Galway/N5/N6 . After the 1st toll at Enfield continue on the M4 West towards Kinnegad but watch for the road splitting and take the M6 to Galway just after junction 10 Kinnegad then continue straight on M6/N6 via Athlone to Galway. On reaching the end of the motorway into Galway take the 2nd exit at the roundabout. Follow the main road to the large light junction and continue straight ahead on the dual carriage way. Straight through next l2 sets of lights and at the round about take the 4th exit for Headford and follow the directions as below.

From Galway

Take the N84 north to Headford. In Headford turn right at the main cross roads (towards Castlebar). Continue for 4km/2.5 miles and turn right at a small crossroads before you come to Shrule (on Google maps it is called ‘Uggool’). This turn is signed but can be passed easily so we suggest taking your time. Travel along the narrow country road for 2.3km/1.4 miles. After a bend to the left you will see our Victorian Gate Lodge on the left – the tree lined avenue to Lisdonagh House is on the right.

From Shannon

Leaving the airport follow the signs for Galway N18. As you approach the city follow signs for Sligo through Claregalway and keep on N17 towards Tuam (approximately 11 miles). Take left at the R333 towards Headford/Caherlistane. At Queally’s pub in Caherlistane turn right towards Shrule. The lake will be on the left as you drive, turn down a signed by-road on the left for Lisdonagh House.

From Ireland West Knock Airport

On exit from the airport, turn right to take the N17 south towards Claremorris/Galway. After driving for approx. 50km/35 miles you will enter the village of Ballindine. Turn right to take the L1510 towards Shrule/Headford (this will become L1610 and L1616). In Shrule turn left onto the N84 towards Headford. Just outside Shrule (2km/1.2 miles), turn left for Lisdonagh House and follow the narrow country road. After a bend to the left you will pass under a mature woodland and see the Victorian Gate Lodge on the left. This is opposite the entrance to Lisdonagh Estate.

From Connemara

If you are travelling from Clifden or Kylemore Abbey in Connemara we suggest you drive to Lisdonagh via Leenane, Maum Cross, Cornamona and Cong. From the N59 in Leenane, turn right and take the R336 towards Maum. This will change into the R345 as you drive straight through Maum. There are beautiful views of Lough Corrib as you drive towards Cong. If you have time, it is well worth a visit or perhaps Afternoon Tea in Ashford Castle. Please note that during the summer season, only guests of the castle have full access to the grounds. When leaving Cong, take the eastbound R346 towards Cross/Galway. In Cross turn right onto the R334, which will bring you to Headford. In the centre of Headford turn left towards Castlebar and after 4km/2.5 miles turn right for Lisdonagh House. Follow the narrow country road to the tree lined entry to Lisdonagh House & Estate.
